requirements and opportunities in this sector,
and teachers do not know how to provide them with
    pertinent information

  • establish favourable conditions for energy
    education
  • improve job orientation in relation to renewable
    energy in Europe

  • A thoroughly tested online tool for vocational
orientation and better awareness on renewable
    energy jobs
  • Dissemination of the projects results to a target
    audience of at least 3000

Elaborating the idea
  • The idea has come through discussing in a
transnational occurrence the great problem which
the renewable energy industry faces in finding
    adequately skilled personnel
  • Previous work done in the EARTHCARE and PREDAC
projects, which could be a good base for RES
    COMPASS

6
Finding partners
  • Partners were mainly selected based on the
    following criteria
  • Multidisciplinary representation (national
    renewable energy association, research centres,
    renewable energy training centres, industrial
    companies, educational offices etc)
  • Good geographical coverage
  • If possible, good experience of cooperation

7
Preparing the project
  • The project was first submitted under the 2006
    call and was rejected
  • Based on the evaluation we reformed the
partnership and the target group and we submitted
it again under the 2007 call
  • The process used was the following
  • Research on current state of the art
  • Input by partners
  • Elaboration of budget based on project and
    partners requirements
  • Discussion of the co-financing subject
  • Establishment of associated partners network

Negotiation period
  • The negotiation process lasted 3 months
  • It involved exchange of emails and telephone
    conversations
  • It was a very productive period
  • Better definition of results
  • Improvement of success indicators
  • More thorough distribution of tasks
  • All partners participated
  • Main advantages
  • An objective input to the work program
  • Partners and project officer establishing common
understanding of the project from a very early
