In 1977 he signed the Sex Pistols and he went on
to sign many household names from Culture Club to
the Rolling Stones, helping to make Virgin Music
one of the top six record companies in the world.
With around 200 companies in over 30 countries,
the Virgin Group had now expanded into leisure,
travel, tourism, mobile, broadband, TV, radio,
music festivals, finance and health and through
Virgin Green Fund he was investing in renewable
energy and resource efficiency.
3- Richard Branson is the eldest among his sibling
Linda and Vanessa. His brother Ted followed in
his fathers footsteps, as a Barrister his Mother
Eve worked in a theatre, as a glider pilot
instructor and a flight attendant. Branson has a
poor academic records. Contrasted with a
brilliant performance of sports. - Branson originally married to Kristen Tomassi
but he got divorce and now hes married to Joan
Templemen, with whom had two children Holly a
doctor and Sam Branson.

- In 1992, Branson took what many saw as being one
of his riskier business exploits by entering into
the railway business. Virgin Trains won the
franchises for the former Intercity West Coast
and Cross-Country sectors of British Rail.
Launched with the usual Branson fanfare with
promises of new high-tech tilting trains and
enhanced levels of service, Virgin Trains soon
ran into problems with the rolling stock and
infrastructure it had inherited from British
Rail.
5World Record Attempts

- In 1998 he attempted at an around-the-world
balloon flight by Branson, Fossett, and Lind
strand ends in the Pacific Ocean on 25 December
1998. - Richard Branson made several world
record-breaking attempts after 1985, when in the
spirit of the Blue Riband he attempted the
fastest Atlantic Ocean crossing. His first
attempt in the "Virgin Atlantic Challenger" led
to the boat capsizing in British waters and a
rescue by RAF helicopter, which received wide
media coverage. Some newspapers called for
Branson to reimburse the government for the
rescue cost.
6His Life
- He was born in 1950 and educated at Stowe School.
It was here that he set up Student magazine when
he was 16.In 1970 he founded Virgin as a mail
order record retailer, and shortly afterwards he
opened a record shop in Oxford Street, London. In
1972 we built a recording studio in Oxfordshire
where the first Virgin artist, Mike Oldfield,
recorded Tubular Bells - And thats Richard Branson!
