Data Analysis (Boyatzis, 1998)
  • Stage 1
  • Reducing raw information
  • Identifying themes within sub sample
  • Comparing themes across sub sample
  • Creating the code
  • Determine the reliability
  • Stage 2
  • Applying code to remaining raw information
  • Determine validity
  • Interpreting results

11
Findings Most Common Themes
  • Having minor modification in ERP systems
  • Providing training for end-users
  • Change management is necessary to reduce
    resistance to new organizational change
  • The competitive advantage that ERP systems can
give is not clearly evident in the 2000s era

12
Findings (contd)
  • ERP systems can integrate the business process in
    the entire value-chain
  • ERP systems provide data visibility
  • ERP systems increase efficiency
  • Knowledge capture, storage and transfer in ERP
    systems and conflicts

13
Findings7 New Categories
  • ERP support versus governance
  • Trend of collaborative supply chain
  • Emerging trend of customer relationship
    management (CRM)
  • ERP versus Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
  • ERP in E-commerce
  • Information flow at intra and inter-organizational
    level
  • ERP and business model

14
Future Research
  • Combination with other qualitative research
method of secondary data analysis and open-ended
interviews to increase validity in the findings
  • Alternatively, combination with quantitative
    research method

15
Conclusion
  • Thematic analysis is not easy to use. However, an
interpretive analysis of latent themes allows for
the fullest of the context as a referent or basis
    for understanding the phenomenon (Boyatzis,
    1998).
  • If youre not careful, the dream of information
integration can turn into a nightmare
    (Davenport, 1998)
