Scope of work for 2004-2005
  • Distance Learning Center web site for all HEAP
    members
  • Training and technical assistance to 11 member
    states (AR, CA, HI, MD, MI, NC, NH, PA, SD, VT,
    WY)
  • customization and use of the online modules in
    the HTMLeZ learning management system (LMS)
  • best practices re web-based learning,
    facilitation, etc.
  • Assistance to states in transferring the online
    modules to their LMS (if necessary)
  • Assisting states with planning
  • Converting two new HEAP modules
  • Evaluating the HEAPs distance learning effort

Three Levels of Participation in Distance
Learning Initiative
  • Implementers (7)
  • Piloting the online professional development
    modules with teachers in their own states.
  • Planners (3)
  • Planning for eventual implementation in the
    second half of 2005.

  • Adapting the professional development modules to
    their Learning Management System (LMS)

State-Based Distance Learning
  • The course can be duplicated for each state
  • Each state can modify/add additional resources as
    needed
  • States can run their course as many times as they
    wish
  • States can manage their own course and learners
    independently

  • Developed HEAP Distance Learning web site

  • Conducted mid-year evaluation (SSRE)

Possibilities for Year 3 (starting in July, 05)

    planning, training, and implementation

    available to HEAP members

  • Can offer training for one group of teachers at a
    time (15 to 25 people)
  • Can offer training as many times as you wish
  • You provide administration, logistics,
    facilitation, technical support
  • Negotiate an LMS agreement for HTMLeZ
  • Trainings are branded to your state
  • Create unlimited of courses across various
    content areas
