BACKGROUND Global Competitiveness Taking on the
challenge
  • How it all started
  • A consortium comprising the following
    organisations initiated the creation of the seda
    Automotive Technology Centre (SATeC)
  • AIDC (Automotive Industry Development Centre) -
    Lead member
  • CSIR (Council for Scientific and Industrial
    Research )Enterprise Development Centre
  • TUT (Tshwane University of Technology)
  • Small Enterprise Development Agency (seda), an
    agency of the Department of Trade and Industry
    (the dti), is currently the only funder
    organisation through the SEDA Technology
    Programme (STP).
  • SATeC is registered as a Section 21 organisation,
    not-for-profit, and has the following members

BUSINESS OBJECTIVESTechnology/ Business
Incubation Centre
  • The aim
  • Provision for an environment that nurtures the
    development of business start-ups, to ensure
    their long-term sustainability and increased
    participation in the automotive sector
  • Objectives
  • Development of entrepreneurship, creation of
    technology-based businesses and emerging low-tech
    suppliers/enterprises.
  • Support the development of BEE companies in the
    automotive sector.
  • Support OEMs,component manufacturers and the
    after-market enterprise development programmes.
  • Leverage knowledge and competence of higher
    education institutes, technology centres and
    industry to reduce the failure of start-up
    companies.
  • Commercialise locally developed technologies
    and supply-chain solutions to improve global
    competitiveness of the local industry.
  • Improve living conditions of the economically
    marginalised through creation of business
    opportunities, and by supporting SMEs and job
    creation.
