  • This is the way that some cultural products have
    a higher value or status than others

  • High brow or high cultural taste belongs to the
    middle and upper classes
  • Art, literature, received pronunciation, manners,
    certain TV shows , films, newspapers etc

  • Low brow or low cultural taste belongs to the
    working classes
  • Different ways of speaking and behaving and
    certain TV shows , films, newspapers etc

  • Children learn taste through habitus
  • Middle class children are more likely to be taken
    to museums, encouraged to read literature etc
