PowerChute Business Edition architecture

• Agents sit on each server and talk to UPSs
  serially or via USB
• Provides UPS status monitoring and, in the
  event of an extended power outage, system

SmartSlot Relay Input/Output
APCs SmartSlot Relay I/O Module allows control
and monitoring of power through a simple dry
contact interface, a communication format favored
by manufacturers of PBXs, telecom management
devices, and alarm management systems.

Automatic Transfer Switch

• 1400VA and 3000VA Automatic Transfer Switch
  accessories offer network managers 7x24 AC power
  and continuous availability of safe shutdown.
• Automatic Transfer Switch has two input plugs.
  It is designed to supply power to the load from a
  primary AC line. If that AC power was not
  available due to an overloaded circuit, failed
  UPS, extreme weather, or even user error, the
  Redundant Switch will automatically begin
  sourcing power from the secondary AC line. The
  transfer from on line to the other is seamless to
  your server or networking device.

two separate AC sources. Loads with a single or
multiple power cords can now have N1 power paths
in case of a single AC source failure.
Better In this application, the ATS is connected
to two separate AC sources. A single Smart-UPS
is then connected to the ATS, thereby providing
the Smart-UPS with dual AC input feeds.
Best In this application, a ATS is used with two
identical Smart-UPS and PowerChute plus. Both
Smart-UPS will provide continuous EMI/RFI
filtering and surge suppression. Battery backup
is available in case of a primary or redundant AC
source failure. In case of a severe power event,
the redundant Smart-UPS will continue to support
the load and also provide graceful shutdown for

APC's Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS), is a high
availability switch that has two input cords, one
for each AC line, which provide redundant power
to connected equipment. This product is designed
to supply power to the load from a primary AC
line. If that AC power becomes unavailable due to
