  • Some points used- Distance between the eyes,
width of nose, length of the jaw line etc

  • Locating suspects in large social areas

5
Limiting Identity Theft
  • Facial Scan at ATMs
  • Computer scan to match credit card

6
Monitoring Employees at Work
  • Is it right for employees to be skipping out on
    work but still getting paid?
  • With the new advances in FR this wont happen

7
Ethical?
  • How important is it for you to feel safe?
  • Giving up some rights seems fair for the great
protection we will receive from this new
    technology.

8
Reasons Against Facial Recognition
Invasion Of Privacy!!!
  • Use by criminals
  • Misuse by government
  • Monitor employees at work

9
Use by criminals
  • FR could be used to secretly track individuals

-Peoples whereabouts -Access to personal
information
10
Misuse by Government
  • Is this really ethical?
  • Would you be comfortable with the government
knowing where you are at all times?
  • The facial recognition system has not been fully
proven to work and may not be reliable
  • No current laws preventing misuse

11
Unreliablilty
Or is it

Monitor employees at work
  • In a negative way
  • Could be used for job discrimination
  • Companies would know what there employees do in
    there off time
  • -Where they go
  • -Who they hang out with
  • Again, there are no laws preventing this kind of
    misuse

13
Food For Thought
  • Do you think Monitoring people at work is
    ethical?
  • Are there any other ways that Facial Recognition
could be used? For example- A future world wide
data base of everyone? Think Gattaca
  • Do you think the trade-off of privacy for more
    security is worth it?
