• Common Theme
• One Scotland public information videos will be
  used in Social subjects, English and RE.
• Aim of helping pupils be aware of the causes of
  prejudice and supporting them in developing more
  positive attitudes towards other groups in
  society.

RE

• Will study the different religions and cultures
  in UK society and develop knowledge to
  overcome/challenge stereotypes.

English

• examine anti-sectarianism through literature and
  media. Building on the successful use of texts
  such as Theresa Breslins Divided City, the
  department will look at how the issue is
  portrayed in fiction.
• extended writing skills and development of
  campaign/letter writing etc

Social Subjects

• Overview of the groups in UK society.
• Causes and reasons for immigration
• Challenge prejudice through non-stereotypical
  examples.
• Creation of a political campaign/pressure group
  to encourage people to avoid sectarianism/prejudic
  e.

The Learning Programme

• develop a twelve period block of work for each
  subject area
• incorporates our new teacher learning and sets
  out to challenge student attitudes.
• lessons will make particular use of ICT,
  cooperative learning and media methodologies to
  motivate and sustain student interest.
• fully integrated within each curricular area

The Intended Outcomes

• An integrated programme of lessons will be
  developed for S2 students.
• Representatives from each of the three curricular
  areas will have an opportunity to work
  collaboratively in the planning and creation of
  rich tasks.
• A learning journal will be developed to record
  student attitudes and impressions.
• The departments will plan a showcase event to
  demonstrate student learning to the wider school.
