  • Day 7

Warm-up
  • On an index card, list one thing that worries you
    on the front and one thing that worries you on
    the back.
  • DO NOT PUT YOUR NAME ON THE CARD!!!
  • Turn your card in to Mrs. Warren (shuffle cards)
    (pass out cards)
  • Give suggestions to one of the worries youve
    received and how it could be resolved. Write
    your idea on the card. If you receive your own
    card trade.
  • Pass the card to someone else. Give resolutions
    to another problem.
  • Turn your card in to Mrs. Warren.
  • Mrs. Warren may read the stories and possible
    solutions.

Factors that make it hard to use empathy
  • Centering on your own needs, emotions or purposes
  • Focusing on only one feature of someones
    behavior
  • Thinking in terms of stereotypes
  • Being prejudiced about someones race, religion
    or nationality
  • Keeping distance between yourself and others

  • Personality the way a person thinks and acts,
    the sum total of a persons physical, mental,
    emotional and social qualities
  • Communicate give, receive and understand the
    information
  • Peer group people who are the same age and who
    share the same interests
  • Trends general styles or tendencies

  • Who sets the standards in each category? TV,
    videos, peers, family or yourself?
  • Is it easier or harder to resist conformity when
    youre with your friends?
  • When might conformity be bad? Can you think of a
    situation?
  • Can you think of examples when conformity might
    be good or smart?
