Assess
Questions and activities designed to text learning
The basic RLO structure consists of three
sections. The first is the apprehend
section. It introduces the subject and provokes
the learner using questions and images. Text and
audio are used here. The second section is the
main body of the RLO. This is based around the
main diagram. Audio is used to explain the
diagram and orientate the learner. The image may
be built up during this orientate section. The
image contains hotspots that link to other
sections of information. Here a thumbnail of the
image is shown to aid orientation. The third
section assesses learning using a range of
assessment methods

RLOs with this basic pattern will build one from
another, with each covering a slightly different
subject. Central diagram may vary, as may the
number and position of the links to
information RLOs will normally follow on from
one another in a linear pattern, but may link to
one of the sub-sections of another RLO (for
example to give more detailed information). Care
must be taken here to ensure that the structure
of the final learning package does not become too
complex for the learner.

The initial RLOs to be produced for the pain
pathways project are shown here. Others may be
added over time. NOTE not all will contain the
same number or position of hotspot links from
the central diagram.
