1
Mrs. Hall Goes to Memphisfor Orff Level III
Certification
  • July 21 through August 1, 2008

2
This summer I became a real student.
My classmates and I learned how to become better
teachers.
3
We. . .
4
. . .played instruments,
5
learned new folk dances,
6
composed music,
7
Practiced and performed recorder consorts,
8
and sometimes got to wear masks.
9
One of my favorite days was when it was my
turn to play the contra bass bars.
10
We were in classes all day and had homework every
night for two weeks.
11
Learning to teach music this way is called the
Orff Process. I wanted you to experience and
learn music the way Carl Orff taught his students.
12
Carl Orff was a famous music teacher who died in
1982.
13
My teacher was Jos Wuytack, a true genius who
speaks six languages.
14
Jos Wuytack is a composer and expert in the Orff
process.
He was personally taught by Mr. Carl Orff.
15
Mr. Wuytack told silly jokes and liked to mix up
words.
16
Did you know he never wore shoes in class?
17
Of course he wore sandals when he went outside.
18
The class wasnt always easy for me. I had
to redo this assignment.
19
So I asked questions, listened and worked
hard. On my next assignment I got an A!
20
After two intense weeks, I got my diploma for
Orff Level III.
21
This completes my Orff Certification. I
already finished Level I in 2002 and Level II in
2005.
Can you find my three diplomas somewhere in Room
47?
22

I am so proud to be your music teacher and
told all of my classmates in Memphis how
wonderful my students were. Im looking forward
to a great year with you! Mrs. Hall
