Artists Statement

•  As a child, I used art as a form of creativity
  and entertainment. I would color or paint my
  interpretation of an object. Though my coloring
  and painting was simple and underdeveloped, it
  was still art. As I grew older, I took my art
  more seriously. I paid more attention to detail
  and used different media to make my art. I
  learned to use paint more successfully I used
  scratch art, simple sketches, and sculpture to
  get my artistic voice across. I like creating art
  simply because I like expressing myself. I plan
  on continuing my work because it is still
  worthwhile and fulfilling. 
•       I select my media and tools based on the
  feeling I am trying to convey. If I am angry I
  tend to use dark or warm colors like orange, red,
  and black. However, most of the time I use cool,
  calming colors such as blue or green. Sometimes,
  for instance in sketches, the piece is best
  represented in black and white. Honestly,
  decisions on technique and media are random. I
  just use whatever I feel is necessary.
•       Currently, my most common sketches are that
  of hands. I love the look of hands and how
  shadows fall on them in such and interesting
  way. I used to not draw anything that was as
  challenging as hands. After trying to draw them,
  I can honestly say that they are probably the
  easiest things to draw. Hands are almost always
  in my sight so their image is always there. The
  more familiar I am with my subject matter, the
  better my artwork turns out.
•       Now that I am a senior, I know that Im not
  going to continue studying art in college. I know
  that I am going to NC State and plan to pick a
  major in the first year there. Art may not be a
  career for me, but I will always have something
  enjoyable and expressive to do on the side.

Vertigo

• This is the first painting from my commission
  project. My theme was U2 so I did this picture
  which feature images from their newest album and
  tour.

Lonely Joshua Tree

• This is a the second painting from my commission
  project. My theme was U2 and one of their
  albums has a Joshua tree on the cover so I
  decided to paint this picture of a lone Joshua
  tree. It is special because most of the time
  these trees are seen in packs of ten or more.
  This one is alone.

  of my favorite musicians. This collage was
  definitely my most involved project. It took
  forever.
