Strengths
  • The staff is like a family.
  • The staff is willing to experiment, be
    innovative, and go the extra mile.
  • The students are hard-working, respectful, and
    caring.

Needs
  • We need to continue to embrace and nurture a
    common philosophy. Not everything is happening
    school-wide and certainly not district-wide, yet.
    We need to build upon the solid foundation that
    has been laid.
  • Our aging facility presents us with space and
    general maintenance issues.
  • We need more community involvement in our school.

Advice for the New Principal
  • Be visible.
  • Develop strong relationships with the students
    and staff and interact with them on a daily
    basis.
  • Listen to, appreciate, respect and support all
    staff and the community.

Short Term Goals
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with faculty
    and staff.
  • Evaluate the current Student Support Center Model
    and Behavior Management System.
  • Create SSC Design Team.
  • Design SSC to better meet needs.
  • Change SSC facilitators job description and
    position on Matrix
  • Establish a schedule of formal and informal
    meetings with all staff.
  • Continue to implement PIP, Four Outcomes, PIP
    Folios, Student-Led Conferences, Multi Age
    Classrooms, and Looping.

Long Term Goals
  • Lead everyone on board with the district
    philosophy and vision and then provide faculty
    and staff with the support they need to make it
    happen.
  • PIP, Four Outcomes, PIP Folios, Student-Led
    Conferences, Non-Graded School
  • Nurture and expand the relationship between the
    school and community.
  • Resolve the facility and maintenance issues.

Potential Obstacles
  • The comfort of familiarity.
  • My inexperience. I will have to prove myself.
  • Not every staff member is starting at the same
    point.
