GPI is providing preliminary design services
(Phases I-IV) for major reconstruction and
reconfiguration of the Northern State Parkway
(NSP) / NYS Route 110 (Walt Whitman Road)
interchange. This 43.5-million project includes
replacement of the existing NSP Bridge over NYS
Route 110. In addition, the project will widen
NYS Route 110 from four to six lanes between the
interchange and the North Service Road of the
Long Island Expressway (I-495). GPI is
preparing the noise study report and supervising
the collection of noise data. Project noise
modeling will be done using the FHWA TNM-2.5
model, and projecting noise levels for future
build conditions along the LIE, NYS Route 110,
and Northern State Parkway Interchange. GPI will
determine the feasibility of noise barriers and
other forms of noise mitigation within the
project area. This is a NEPA Class I project
and will include the development of an
Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).
Preliminary design (Phases I-IV) conducted by GPI
will include miscellaneous survey mapping,
soils investigation, development of alternatives
with technical memorandum, evaluation of social,
economic and environmental factors, storm water
management, ground water analysis, visual impact
assessment, bridge site data, structure
justification report and public information
presentations and hearings.
