Soon after Walt was born, he and his family moved
to Marceline, Missouri.

Walt loved trains. He would put his ear to the
track to listen for the train coming. The Santa
fe railroad ran through his town.

Walt would paint pictures of his neighbors horse
to make extra money.

Teenage years
In fall of 1917, Walt went to McKinley high school

Since Walt still had his love for art, he took
night courses at the Chicago art institute

At the age of 16, Walt decided to join the army
but got regected because of young age.

Since Walt got rejected in the army, he drove an
ambulance in France that had his cartoon
characters on it.

After driving the ambulance in France, he moved
to Kansas city to make ads for newspapers.
