Introduction/Location
The state of Iowa is located in the Midwest. It
is called The Hawkeye state and The Corn
state. The Mississippi River is to the East and
the Missouri is to the West. To the North is
Minnesota and Missouri is to the South.

History of Iowa
  • Native Americans- Mound Builders
  • French explorers-claimed the land
  • 1803 the United States bought it from France
  • Called it Louisiana Purchase
  • Settlers came
  • December 28, 1846, Iowa became a state
  • Farming was important
