Fire Information
  • Fire started in restaurant on 1st Floor
  • Rear of restaurant was open to roof above a drop
    ceiling
  • 2nd Floor occupancies affected were Drug
    Treatment Clinic and Massage Therapy Spa
  • 2 civilians found sleeping on 2nd floor
  • No injuries reported
  • Lightweight building construction
  • The roof was constructed using open web trusses
    two feet on center with long spans
  • During firefighting operations portions of the
    roof collapsed as well as parts of the second
    floor

    Safety Letter to All Members from BES (8/2/07)
  • Lightweight Roofs- Members shall never conduct
    ventilation operations directly over a working
    fire on a lightweight roof. Members should
    employ the practice of trading space for time so
    that they may complete their roof-cutting
    operation prior to the fire impinging on their
    ventilation hole.
