2
What is Circuit Training?
  • Utilizes a minimum of 6 strength exercises that
are completed one exercise after another, with
little or no rest in between.
  • Each exercise is performed for a specified number
of repetitions or for a prescribed time period
before moving on to the next exercise.
  • Excellent way to simultaneously improve mobility,
    strength and stamina.
  • Can be adjusted to suit age, fitness and health
    of the athlete.

3
Project Synopsis
  • A wireless system to direct multiple trainees
through a totally random sequence of circuit
    training exercises.
  • The tasks for a multiple trainee system include
  • using audio prompts for exercise events
  • accommodating varying start times for different
    individuals
  • accommodating varying desires for workout
    duration.

User Interface
  • Generates random sequence of numbers
  • Transmits the numbers to each Trainee at every
    time interval
  • Number of exercises cant exceed the number of
    trainees
  • ROUNDS were limited to 7 for this device

Sample Scheme
8
Bluetooth Wireless System
  • Kensington USB Bluetooth Dongle
  • Transmits ROUND numbers at 4800Baud in ASCII code
    to each trainee
  • Maps virtual COM ports
  • BlueRadio-SC30A DIP Module
  • Receives ROUND numbers in ASCII code
  • Low Power (3.3V)
  • Secure connection

Schematic
10
Microprocessor System
  • PIC16F84A Microcontroller
  • Lets user input the number of ROUNDS to execute
and number of minutes to wait before starting
their workout which is displayed on a 7 segment
    display.
  • Controls the switching between the recorded voice
    prompts and music.
  • Converts ASCII code to a decimal for ROUND
    numbers.
  • Low Current Draw
  • 13 Bidirectional I/O ports

11
Voice System
  • ISD2560 Voice IC
  • Stores the 7 exercise prompts and Buzzer prompt
  • Non-Volatile memory
  • Set in Fast Forward mode to be able to jump to
    any prompt
  • Maximum recording time of 60 seconds

Future Improvements
  • Upgrade the microcontroller to a more advanced
model to be able to monitor heart rate and
transmit this data back to the host PC.
  • Adding a feature for the user to upload a workout
plan to which would expand the usefulness of the
    device.

14
Conclusion
  • Motivate and keep trainees on track while working
    out.
  • Instructing the Trainees through their workout.
  • Keeping the Trainees workout routines random.
