Before entering the room
Perform hand hygiene with soap and water or
water-free skin cleanser Don Personal
Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Picture of person wearing the required PPE
- Disposable impervious long sleeved gown
- P2 (or N95) particulate mask
- Gloves
- Visor for face/eye protection
PPE trolley placed outside door of the room (or
in airlock) with general waste bag available for
discarded PPE. Food services Food service staff
do not enter, nurse to deliver and remove meal
trays from pts room. Cleaning staff - use yellow
bucket/mop/cloth for cleaning of this room and
use PPE as identified in chart.
RESTRICTED ACCESS Allied health care and
Visitors - Please see nursing staff before
entering this room KEEP THE DOOR OF THE ROOM
CLOSED AT ALL TIMES

When leaving the room or immediately outside the
room Remove PPE in the following order
- Remove gloves by peeling from the wrist to
fingers so that the contaminated side of the
glove is on the inside. Take care not to touch
skin. Discard into waste bin. - Perform hand hygiene with soap and water or
water-free skin cleanser - Remove visor or shield
- Remove impervious gown, folding the contaminated
side in as the gown is removed. Discard into
waste bin. - Remove P2 (or N95) mask by touching the
tapes/straps only and discard into waste bin. (Do
not touch the front of the mask) - Perform hand hygiene immediately with soap and
water or water-free skin cleanser

OR
Waste management visibly soiled disposable
items to be placed into clinical waste bin inside
the room. All other items are to be placed into
general waste . Linen place all soiled linen
into linen bag in room. If heavily soiled place
into clear plastic bag and seal before placing
into linen bag. Cleaning staff - remove PPE as
identified in chart.
KEEP DOOR OF THE ROOM CLOSED AT ALL TIMES

meals to patients standard precautions
apply. Cleaning staff - use yellow
bucket/mop/cloth for cleaning of this room and
use PPE as identified in chart.
Equipment must be cleaned before being used
outside this room RESTRICTED ACCESS - Please
see staff before entering this room
6CONTACT PRECAUTIONS
When exiting the room or immediately outside the
room Remove PPE in the following order
- Remove gloves by peeling from the wrist to
fingers so that the contaminated side of the
glove is on the inside. Take care not to touch
skin. Discard into waste bin. - Remove impervious apron/gown, folding the
contaminated side in as the apron/gown is
removed. Discard into waste bin. - NOTE if masks or protective eye shields are used
they must be removed before hand hygiene is
performed. - 3. Perform hand hygiene immediately with soap and
water or water-free skin cleanser
OR

items to be placed into clinical waste bin inside
the room. All other items are to be placed into
general waste . Linen place all soiled linen
