Paying Attention

• There are many things that can distract you when
  you are out and about on the road.
• When you are distracted it is harder to pay
  attention to the road.

• If you are on the phone or listening to music you
  dont realise what is going on around you.
• If you cross the road without paying attention
  you could be involved in an accident.

• Cars will not stop just because you are listening
  to music or talking to someone on your mobile.
• 55 teenagers a week are involved in serious road
  accidents because they are not paying attention.

• If youre about to cross the road and your mobile
  rings what should you do?
• A - Answer your phone immediately.
• B - Ignore your phone and wait until youve
• crossed the road safely.

• Before listening to your iPod in the street
• what is the first thing you should do?
• A - Ensure that you can still hear cars and
• other voices when your iPod is on.
• B - Make sure your iPod is on securely.
• C - Ensure your iPod is safely hidden.
• D - Dont ever listen to your iPod when you
  are out on the street.

• Look at the picture. Which characters
• are putting themselves or others at risk and
• how?

• to school every day on his own. School
• is two miles away from home.
