• GS1-13 data structure used to uniquely identify a
  location
• Components
• GS1 Company Prefix (variable)
• Location Reference
• number assigned by the Company
• varies in length
• Check digit

combined length is always 13 digits.

GLNs in Symbols

• In business operations, GLNs are meaningless if
  they are not associated with a particular
  function or purpose.
• The specific Application Identifier indicates the
  particular function of the location number
  represented in the bar code symbol.
