  • New job skills testing and credentialing program
  • Sponsored and funded by the State of Florida
  • Measures student/jobseeker abilities in three key
    skill areas
  • 1. Applied Math Workplace math ie
    calculating percentage discounts and markups
  • 2. Reading for Information Using memos,
    letters, directions, signs, notices, bulletins,
    policies and regulations
  • 3. Locating Information Working with charts,
    graphs, tables, forms, flowcharts, diagrams,
    floor plans, maps and instrument gauges

RTW Credential Process
  • Sign up at a participating testing center
  • Take online pre-test
  • Use online, self-paced tutorial training
  • Take proctored tests
  • Earn a minimum of 3 on each test
  • Receive Florida Ready to Work credential

RTW Credential Funding
  • Program is funded by the State of Florida
  • No cost to students/jobseekers or employers
  • Online tutorial is free, tests are free,
    credential is free
  • Department of Education funding to help offset
    testing center implementation costs

RTW Credential Stipends
  • 5 per test (15 for all three required tests),
    per student/jobseeker
  • Schools, workforce boards and other non-employers
    eligible
  • Student/jobseeker must complete required pre-test
    and score a minimum of 3 or successfully complete
    the online training before taking the
    corresponding proctored test
  • May re-take one time, maximum 30 paid per
    student/jobseeker
  • Contingent upon available funds
  • Administered by the Florida Association of
    District School Superintendents

VOLUSIA/CTEOBJECTIVE
  • To provide Volusia students with the Florida
    Ready to Work (RTW) credential demonstrating to
    employers that they possess the skills needed to
    succeed in the workplace.

BENEFITS
  • Ensures that students have the competencies
    necessary to succeed in the marketplace.
  • Measures workplace readiness and occupational
    skills providing a direct tie to identified CTE
    course frameworks.
  • Provides students with targeted instruction and
    coursework to improve areas in need of
    strengthening.
  • Provides BOTH a Florida Ready to Work credential
    and industry certification for select CTE
    programs.

JUSTIFICATION
  • The purpose of DCT, OJT, and internship programs
    is to provide students with occupational skills
    through employment

related instruction and paid, on-the-job
training supervised by an employer and a
teacher/coordinator.

    readiness programs!
  • Thus, implementing the Florida Ready to Work
    credential is appropriate for program and course
    goals.

  • Career Connection Coach (Bus)
  • The Coach is a mobile assessment
  • lab complete with satellite internet
  • connectivity and 14 computer
  • Stations.

SKILL DEVELOPMENT TESTINGDCT, OJT
Internship Programs
  • Instructors provide students with targeted
    instruction through the identified CTE program
    frameworks and skill development using the
    self-paced, online WIN program.
  • ACT WorkKeys Assessment occurs at the end of the
    1st and 2nd semesters at each assessment site.

SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND TESTINGJuniors Seniors
  • Skill development for juniors and seniors NOT
    enrolled in the target CTE programs will occur
    through the school-based Career Connection
    Facilitator (students identified through
    guidance).
  • The Career Connection Coach will be utilized to
    test identified juniors and seniors during the
    months of December, February, and March.
