Good Morning Mustangs!

• In the mornings we ride the bus to school. The
  safety patrol is there to make sure that you are
  safe.
• If you get dropped off, the safety patrol will
  tell you when to cross the bus lane.

The Buses

• In the morning the buses will pick you up and
  drop you off at the school. You will get off the
  bus and go in the school.

Good-Bye

• When we leave, we walk to the buses.
• If you ride home with your parents, they will
  stand in front of the building on the sidewalk.
• If you go to daycare you will go to the yellow
  wing.

The Front Office

• The safe place is the office. These people work
  in the office Principal, school counselor,
  attendance secretary, and our school secretary.

THEGYM

• The gym is the biggest room in the school. It
  sits smack dab in the middle.
• Mr. Holbrook is our P.E coach. We do exercises,
  play games, free time, and sometimes go outside.

The Library

• Our library has a lot of books.
• We have a book fair in the fall and the spring to
  let students buy books of their own.

Crazy For Books

• In the library we get to keep books for a week.
• We have in our library 7 different book areas.
• Mrs. Looney is our school librarian.

Welcome To Our Reading Center

• Our reading center is where Mrs. Looney reads
  books to 3rd grade and below.
• The children sit quietly on the steps and listen
  to the book while Mrs. Looney reads.

• FRC EAST Workers Laura, Jenny, and Helen.
• Special Teachers, Mrs. Malone, Mrs. Golden,
  Mrs.Sutton, Mrs. Patton, Mrs. Thacker, and the
  daycare workers can all be found in the yellow
  wing.

Our Playground

• Kids on our playground play different games.
• You can play tag, swing, or slide. You can also
  play on the monkey bars or you can jump rope.

To the Playground

• After eating, we line up to go to recess.
• Then we leave the cafeteria after lunch.
• We walk through the hallways with a teacher until
  we get outside.

Recess Times

• K-1 goes to recess at 1120.
• 2-3 goes to recess at 1155.
• 4-5 goes to recess at 1250.

The little ground in which we play on!

• The little playground is mostly for day care.
• Sometimes K-1 goes out and plays on it.

The big playground

• The big playground is where everybody plays.

STLP

• STLP stands for Student Technology Leadership
  Program.
• We meet in the library after school every
  Thursday.
• We work on computers and on projects.

More Information About STLP

• When we work on a project we work very hard at
  doing our best.
• This project was meant to help new students get
  used to our school.
• We also want to attract new students by letting
  Realtors know how great our school is.

STLP Rules

• No food or drinks around the computers.
• No goofing off or interrupting others.
• No wandering around the school while STLP is in
  session.
• You also need to have lots of fun!

About Our School Ponderosa opened in January
1992. Our school district covers all of Boyd
County that is south of I-64 to the Lawrence and
Carter county lines. This includes the Durbin
side on US Route 23, the Garner side on Route 3,
and the Rush area.

Our school has three classrooms of each grade
level Kindergarten through fifth grade. Our
enrollment is currently around 400 students.

Mrs. Kathy Rice has been the Principal at
Ponderosa since November 2000. She has been
employed in the Boyd County school system since
1978. She has a Bachelors Degree, Masters
Degree, a Rank I, and Instructional Leadership
Certification from Morehead State University.
