OUR WILDLIFE AREA MARCH 2005
This is how we get into our wildlife area.
Our pond was filled in and this area had been
forgotten!
3
GREEN GYM
  • WE HAD TO DO
  • SOMETHING!
  • SO GREEN GYM
  • CAME AND
  • HELPED
  • US GET STARTED!

4
IT SEEMED AN ENORMOUS TASK!
WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM US!!!!
BUT GREEN GYM MADE LIGHT WORK OF IT..
5
We worked as a team and created a human chain to
fill the pond with water. We used buckets
brought in by the children from home.
It took all of their strength to lift these bags
of leaves onto the trolley!
6
Jeff Perrin, was one of the first parents to help
with the pond. He donated the protective cover
and gave up two hours of his time to lay it and
help to fill the pond with water.
THEY DO SAY MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK!
7
DISASTER THEN STRUCK!
When we returned the next day, all the water had
gone! We soon realised our problem! A hole in the
pond had let the water drain into the soil.
Never to be a school that lets a problem get in
our way, we soon had lined the pond and filled
the pond with water again. Now, we are able to
watch how are pond develops over time.
8
Now you can see us regularly in our Wildlife Area!
9
We love to search for organisms and identify them
in their habitats.
Some children concentrate really hard just to
find a new organism to add to the Stillness list!
10
As you can see, when we look really hard we can
find even the tiniest of organisms!
But we always remember to put them back where we
found them, so we dont harm them in any way!!!
11
HELPING STAG-BEETLES TOO!
  • We are now contributing to BAP (Biodiversity
Action Plan) Species initiative in the borough of
    Lewisham.

So hopefully we will be seeing Stag-Beetles at
some point in the near future!
12
WHATS NEXT IN THE PIPELINE?(Summer Term)
We are going to create a more welcoming entrance
to our Wildlife area by having a design
competition. the winners designs will be
decorated onto the wall by us! We will then cover
it, in an all weather varnish to make sure it
lasts!
13
WHATS NEXT IN THE PIPELINE?(Next Year)
Over the summer our playground is having a Make
Over. Huts are going to be knocked down and
light and more space is going to be created for
our wildlife area.
  • A vegetable patch.
  • A compost heap.
  • A herb area.
  • A flower area.
  • A quiet area.
  • A gardening/wildlife weekly club.
