9FY09 Branch Fill Rates
FOR REFERENCE ONLY Actual FY10 Values Can Vary
Significantly
- The following chart displays where on the Active
Duty OML, each branch filled for the FY09 Cohort - Color codes show where each branch filled this
cohort - - To 50 of the allocation without ADSO
- To 65 with ADSO
- Between 65 and 100 with ADSO
- Some significant variance from last years (FY08)
results - - All branches filled to at least 50 (last
year OD, TC and CM did not fill to 50 and did
not require ADSO) anyone after 2443 AD OML needed
to ADSO to get any branch - - EN, MP and FI filled to 65 prior to reaching
the 50 OML (last year no cadets were skipped) - - There were not enough ADSOing cadets in the
bottom 50 to fill the last 35 of AV branch - - One DMG did not get his top 3 choices
(selected AV, IN, AR but did not ADSO), he was
awarded his 4th choice MI.

the branch received by ROTC school, lower is
better, 1 from school everyone got first
choice. - Chart is distribution for 104 schools with at
least 10 AD Cadets in FY09 cohort and 74 schools
with at least 10 AD Cadets in FY08. - 25 schools had index of 1 all less than 10
Cadets, 2 schools with 8 Cadets

- This chart shows the break out of the branches
by top, middle and bottom thirds of the Active
Duty FY09 OML. - This chart could be used by PMSs to allow
Cadets to consider branches based on how they
would compare to peers in that branch. For
example - Cadet at about 1/3 point in OML would be bottom
1/3 (63 percentile) of (AV, IN, AR) but top 10
of (SC, FA, AD or QM) and top 5 of (TC, CM or
OD) - Ultimately they will compete for BN Command with
their peers in branch.

20Academic Disciple by Branch FY 09
- This chart shows the break out of the Academic
Disciple Mix (ADM) of the FY 09 Cohort by branch - The last column is the overall ADM breakout for
the Cohort - Academic Discipline Mix (ADM) 1
Humanities/Liberal Arts (Art/History) 2 -
Management/Tech (Business Admin) 3
Math/Science 4 - Engineering - Generally there are not significant differences
between the branches and overall Cohort ADM
except for EN (much higher rate of ADM 4
engineer) FI (much higher rate of ADM 2
business/accounting) and MS/CM (much higher rate
of ADM 3 biology/chemistry/sciences)
21Academic Disciple 4 and EN Desired Degrees
Distribution of ADM4 (Engineers)
- ADM 4 Cadets only 6.8 of AD Cohort
- Other branches desire analytical/math skills
(FA/CM/IN) - EN branch received largest percentage 28.9 of
all ADM 4
Cadets with EN Desired Degrees Analysis
- Engineer Branch Desires more than just ADM 4,
also Geography and Geology majors, total 193 in
AD Cohort with desired degrees. - 1/3 of Cadets with desired degrees who choose EN
in top 3 received a lower preference branch, 70
(35 of 50) did not ADSO for EN. - Of 15 Cadets who ADSOed for EN and received
lower preference branch, 4 were in dead zone
top 50 and 11 where below 81 percentile, no more
allocations
1
- Add OMS points to ENs Analysis
- Added one point to all cadets with EN degree and
re-ran branching, resulted in two additional
degreed engineers receiving EN - Only 42 request first
