Viewpoints
  • Describes a position and orientation for viewing
    the scene
  • Any number of viewpoints (or cameras) may be
    placed
  • Only one viewpoint may be active at a time
  • Can choose viewpoints from the horizontal toolbar
    or pop-up menu

Pop-up menu options
  • Viewpoints  Activates a list of the predefined
    viewpoints
  • Headlight  Cortona automatically includes a
    light for the viewer in every world
  • Navigation  You can select a navigation mode
  • Speed  Controls the rate at which a camera moves
    through a world
  • Full Screen This hides most screen elements to
    view the whole scene

Pop-up menu options (Cont.)
  • Hide/Show Toolbars  You can show or hide
    toolbars
  • Show/Hide Console  Shows or hides the VRML
    console containing errors or warnings
  • Preferences  Modifies settings for Cortona VRML
    Client such as screen appearance, a renderer
    mode, and other options
  • Help  Lets you view the online help system and
    general information about Cortona

Moving around the 3-D world
  • There are three navigation modes
  • Walk
  • Fly
  • Study
  • Each modes have several option to change your
    position in a world
  • Plan
  • Pan
  • Turn
  • Roll
  • The combination of modes and its option
    determines the camera motion and its orientation

WALK PLAN
  • and
  • Use WALKPLAN to move in a horizontal plane.
  • Forward - move closer to world
  • Backward - move further from world
  • Right - World moves to your left (Camera
    moves to right)
  • Left - World moves to your right (Camera
    moves to left)

WALK PAN

  • Use WALKPAN to move left or right in a
    horizontal plane.
  • Forward - move closer to world
  • Backward - move further from world
  • Right - move to right
  • Left - move to left

WALK TURN

  • Use WALK TURN to change the angle of the camera
    in a world
  • Forward - turn upward
  • Backward - turn downward
  • Right - turn to the right
  • Left - turn to the left
  • Note WALK ROLL combination is not available

FLY PLAN
  • and
  • Use FLYPLAN to move left or right
  • Forward - move the camera forward towards its
    longitudinal axis (Zoom in)
  • Backward - move the camera backward(Zoom out)

    vertical axis

GOTO
  • Use GOTO to move close to object in a world

Reorienting your position in 3D world
  • Use RESTORE to automatically return to the loaded
    world's original active viewpoint.
  • Use FIT to make the scene view fully visible in
    the Cortona 3D window.
  • Use ALIGN to position the camera's horizontal and
    longitudinal axes parallel to the scene
    horizontal plane.
