descriptions are given in terms of the fourteen
categories provided at the Georgia Science and
Engineering Fair. Physical Physics and
Physical Sciences, that is Theories, principles
and laws governing energy and the effects of
energy on matter--solid state, optics, acoustics,
particle, nuclear, atomic, plasma,
superconductivity, fluid and gas dynamics,
thermodynamics, semiconductors, magnetism,
quantum mechanics, biophysics, etc. Biological
Botany - study of plant life, Medicine and Health
- study of diseases, Microbiology - the biology
of microorganism, Zoology - the study of animals,
Gerontology projects dealing with biological
variables will also be included in this
category. Applied Computer Science - study and
development of computer software and hardware and
associated logical devices
Engineering - technology and projects which
directly apply scientific principles,
Mathematics - development of formal logical
systems and the application of their
principles. Earth Earth and Space Sciences
including geology, mineralogy, physiography,
oceanography, meteorology, climatology,
astronomy, geology, speleology, seismology,
geography, etc. Chemical Chemistry,
