Why do we need a schools foundation?
  • Our community expects world-class learning for
the students of Issaquah School District
  • We receive less money from the state than other
    districts
  • We cannot fund world-class learning without more
    resources from our community

4
We want to provide world class learning for our
students.
  • Top academic opportunities to be competitive
    locally and world-wide
  • Academic choices based on student ability
    and needs
  • Support structure to help our kids
    learn, succeed and be happy

5
Why Do we Need A Schools Foundation?

    state, fed and high salaries)
  • Yakima 24 (but receives additional state and
    fed money)

8
Why do we receive less money?
  • If all districts had the same budget, this would
be the difference in their levy collection
(assume the budget is 100 million)
  • Seattle - 32.97 million
  •               Mercer Island - 33.67 million
  •               Bellevue - 30.66 million

9
Why do we receive less money?
  • Salaries are at the lowest level for all ISD
    employees
  • We pay the same taxes as other school districts,
but our teacher salaries are lower

10
Why do we receive less money?
  • The state legislature has long term plans to fix
    funding.
  • Whether this happens is yet to be seen.
