Advantages of multi-photon excitation microscopy

• Similar resolution as CLSM
• No cytotoxicity by harmful UV
• Reduced photobleaching (confined to focal plane)
• Can image live cells and tissue for much longer
  time than CLSM
• Images much deeper than CLSM due to absence of
  out of focus absorbtion excitation light.
• no pinhole required, increased sensitivity.
