Activity calendar and information navigator

• This document sets out the content specification
  for a navigator to point students and staff to
  information held on various UCD websites.
• The purpose of the navigator is to provide
  students and staff with an attractive interface
  to help them to locate the information they need
  at various times during the UCD year.
• Separate navigators will be provided for students
  and staff. The navigator will follow a
  lifecycle format so that users can pinpoint
  their own specific situation when they have a
  need for information.
• The navigator will also act as a calendar of
  events and deadlines throughout the academic
  year.
• The material will be presented graphically and
  different lifecycle stages will be highlighted
  at different times e.g. the assessment stage will
  be highlighted at assessment time.
• The site will, in as far as possible, be a
  navigator to documents already held on UCD
  websites. There will be no duplication of
  content.
• A list of key dates and events will be
  incorporated into the lifecycle

• Why a navigator?
• Whilst most of the information a student needs is
  on the various UCD websites, it is dispersed.
• Also, because the information on the web is
  presented according to UCD structure, it is not
  always immediately obvious to a student where to
  go on the website to find the information they
  need.
