- Botanists and mycologists of Department of Botany
and Genetics perform science research work under
the theme The Structure and Functioning of
Vegetation and Mycobiota in Lithuania. -
- Most of the research work is accomplished in
protected territories of different status and in
botanical gardens of Lithuania. During the
research floristic, phytocoenological and
systematic works are done. Special attention is
paid to for the research of species diversity,
taxonomy, distribution, biology and ecology of
fungi, lichens, algae, mosses and plants from the
different taxonomic groups. Studies of
Trichocolea tomentella population and clonal
structures, dispersal and gene flow, reproductive
systems and molecular systematics are started.
Part of this research concerns conservation of
fungi, algae and plants.
