Future
  • Strengthen the PhD programme
  • Have a strong visitor programme
  • Have a strong student and faculty exchange
    program
  • Encourage entrepreneurship
  • Have more collaborations with industry and
    government organizations

29
  • PhD programme
  • Presently (35 resident,45 external)
  • Raise to (130 resident,80 external)
  • Admission requirement
  • - should be outstanding, basic degree in
    science.
  • (willing to scout all over the
    country
  • -talent hunting is fun!)

30
PhD students
  • Treat them well
  • Good work space - we have it now!
  • Exposure to the world
  • Exchange programmes with other universities,
  • industries all over the world
  • A strong visitor programme (researchers from
  • all over the world staying with us, weeks to
  • several months)

31
A strong visitor programme
  • 15 visitors at any given time
  • Phd students of Senior
    research
  • other universities workers
  • Academics Practitioners from

  • industry/RD

  • organizations
  • Rule - Excellence interaction with our faculty

32
Entrepreneurship
  • The curriculum would encourage technological
  • entrepreneurship
  • Design projects taken to product level
    completion
  • Dual Degree,M.Tech,B.Tech projects can aim
  • towards entrepreneural goals.

33
The Promise
  • We will cherish teaching and academic values
  • We will reach out
  • We will look far ahead
  • We will value silence also in the midst of
    clamour.
