Introduction

• Students will create a Mayan travel guide that
  demonstrates their knowledge of the Mayan
  culture.

Type of Work

• This project will be based on cooperative group
  work.
• The students will gather information from the
  computer to create an original Mayan travel
  brochure.
• Students will incorporate information they have
  learned in social studies to enhance the travel
  guide.

Details

• The Mayan travel guide will consist of five
  categories rituals, architecture, language,
  culture, and places to visit.
• Students will write at least two paragraphs
  explaining their category. They will use Mayan
  vocabulary words that pertain to the topic.
• Students will insert pictures relating to the
  category.

• This project is intended for sixth graders who
  are studying the Mayans as part of their social
  studies curriculum.
• The content areas this project will address are
  reading, writing, computer technology, social
  studies, problem solving, and cooperative
  grouping.

• Individual Effort- 20 points out of 100
• Group Effort- 30 points out of 100
• Final Project- 40 points out of 100
• Project Presentation- 10 points out of 100

Length of the Project

• Students will be given a individual and
  cooperative group effort grade halfway through
  the project
• The students will present their final project one
  week after they have done research.
