3Getting Started
First click the
Button and locate
Microsoft Word within the start menu. Then
simply point to it, using the mouse and click to
open.
4Moving around your document
- Space Bar and Backspace
- -Both located on the keyboard they can be
utilized to move the cursor one position either
to the left or the right. The spacebar moves the
cursor right while the backspace moves the cursor
to the left. - -These keys will alter the text when struck.
For example, if text has already been written,
and the spacebar is struck an extra space will be
added. With the backspace a space immediately to
the left of the cursor will be deleted when
struck.
5The Arrow Keys
are located at the bottom
Of the key board on the right hand side.
- They are very self explanatory.
- Simply press the arrow for the designated
direction in which you would like to move and for
the designated amount of spaces. - Unlike the spacebar and backspace keys the
arrow keys will not alter the text.
6Page Up Page Down Keys
- Another fast and easy way to navigate through a
long document. - Located on the right side of the keyboard between
the letter pad and the number pad. - Simply press either key, depending on the
direction you wish to move.

8Inserting a Page Break
- Click where you want to start a new page in the
document. - Then click Insert Break and then Page Break.
9Deleting a Page Break
-Click on View Normal -Place the cursor in
the Page break line and press the Backspace or
Delete keys to delete it.
10Inserting Section Breaks
11What are section breaks?
- Section breaks are almost the same as page
breaks. - With a section break you are able to specify
whether you want to start the new section on the
next page, on the same page, or on the next
odd-numbered page.

13Inserting a Section Break
- Follow steps for inserting a page break. (Go to
insert menu, click break). - Decide what type of break you want to make.
- Under Section Break Types, click the appropriate
break type.
14Creating a Table of Contents
15What is a Table of Contents andwhat is its
function?
- A table of contents is created so it is easy to
find your way around a long document. - It should include
- -The title of your document centered at the top
- -Headings running along the left hand margin
- -Corresponding to your headings should be the
the - pages where they appear in your document.
- The page numbers run along the right hand
margin.
