Moving around your document
  • Space Bar and Backspace
  • -Both located on the keyboard they can be
utilized to move the cursor one position either
to the left or the right. The spacebar moves the
cursor right while the backspace moves the cursor
    to the left.
  • -These keys will alter the text when struck.
For example, if text has already been written,
and the spacebar is struck an extra space will be
added. With the backspace a space immediately to
the left of the cursor will be deleted when
    struck.

The Arrow Keys
  • These keys

are located at the bottom
Of the key board on the right hand side.
  • They are very self explanatory.
  • Simply press the arrow for the designated
direction in which you would like to move and for
    the designated amount of spaces.
  • Unlike the spacebar and backspace keys the
arrow keys will not alter the text.

6
Page Up Page Down Keys

    long document.

11
What are section breaks?
  • Section breaks are almost the same as page
    breaks.
  • With a section break you are able to specify
whether you want to start the new section on the
next page, on the same page, or on the next
    odd-numbered page.

12
  • Inserts a section break starts the new section
    on the next pg.
  • Inserts a section break starts the new section
    on the same pg.
  • Inserts a section break starts the new section
on the next odd or even-
  • numbered pg.

13
Inserting a Section Break
  • Follow steps for inserting a page break. (Go to
    insert menu, click break).
  • Decide what type of break you want to make.
  • Under Section Break Types, click the appropriate
    break type.

14
Creating a Table of Contents
15
What is a Table of Contents andwhat is its
function?
  • A table of contents is created so it is easy to
find your way around a long document.
  • It should include
  • -The title of your document centered at the top
  • -Headings running along the left hand margin
  • -Corresponding to your headings should be the
    the
  • pages where they appear in your document.
  • The page numbers run along the right hand
    margin.

16
Sample Table of Contents
  • TITLE
  • First heading .1
  • Second heading .2
  • Third heading .....3
  • Fourth heading ....4

(this is just a sampleyour real one should
