Greeting First Impression
  • Arrive 10 minutes early.
  • Smile and make eye contact.
  • Shake hands firmly.
  • Professional appearance is critical.
  • Be alert, relaxed and ready to react.

Interviewers Thoughts
  • Would I want accountability for this individuals
    performance?
  • Would I want to work with this person?
  • Any obvious red flags with this person?
  • Lacking professionalism.
  • Overly nervous, lacking confidence.
  • Lack of personality, likeability.

Speak Confidently
  • Being bilingual or trilingual is an advantage.
    Focus on that.
  • Speak calmly, clearly, and confidently.
  • Do not speak softly.
  • Speak concisely. Dont ramble. Simplify dont
    complicate.

Know What They Are Looking For
  • Dont focus on your history focus on the key
    skills and the needs of the organization.
  • Example Tell me about yourself ? Tell me
    about your background in a way that shows you are
    right for this position.
  • Interviewers want organized, succinct answers.
    Situation - Action - Result.
  • Interviewers often really arent that interested
    in the whole story.

Self Promotion is Crucial for Success
  • If you are not comfortable claiming your
    achievements, no one will know them.
  • Do not focus on your responsibilities rather than
    your accomplishments .
  • Responsibilities do not differentiate you from
    others, successes do.
  • This is not rude or arrogant in America.
  • Be proud of yourself! Youve earned it.

Prepare Questions About the Position and the
Company
  • Does not show that you are unprepared.
  • Questions show interest and initiative.
  • Insightful questions display your knowledge of
    the company.
  • Do not ask about salary or visa sponsorship at
    this point.

Closing the Interview
  • Make one last solid impression.
  • Let them know that you want the job!
  • Shake hands, thank them, be positive.
  • Be confident show that you believe that this is
    a beginning.
  • Ask for the interviewers business card.

After the Interview
  • Within 24 hours, follow up with a value added
    response thanking them for their time.
  • Dont restate your qualifications, offer them
    something unique.
  • Focus on a topic discussed in the interview.
    Provide additional information on that topic.
  • Correspond more than once. Show persistence and
    desire for the position.
