- What is the progression of jobs from entry level
to more senior positions? - What is a typical day like for you?
- What skills, abilities and attitude do you need
to be successful in this occupation? - What changes do you see in this field in the next
few years? - How does your organisation tend to recruit?
- Do they ever take people for voluntary projects?

insight courses, mentoring programmes, careers

- Most people want to help
- Most people like to be asked for their advice
- One good turn deserves another...you may be in a
position to help them one day! - Everyone has contacts

14STEP 1 Identifying contacts

- Target those in the area you want to get into
find someone senior, not always personnel dept
15STEP 2 Getting in touch
- Do your research first
- Phone, e-mail or post?
- Mention the name of your referral
- Spell out what you want clearly and concisely
- Acknowledge their experience/expertise but dont
be sycophantic - Stress that you want to arrange a meeting and not
an interview - Include a CV
