CARIT HISTORY
  • 1984 Career Information Teams established
  • 1993 CNO directs Pre-Separation counseling
    (OPNAVINST 1900.1)
  • 2004 Re-aligned under Navy Recruiting Command

4
MISSION STATEMENT
  • Provide pre-separation transition guidance and
counseling to all eligible (within 180 days of
    separation) officer and enlisted personnel
    (OPNAVINST 1900.1D).
  • We have a legal liability and moral obligation
to help our Sailors with their transition. No
other Navy or civilian organization is
responsible for or capable of touching every
separating sailor in such an organized and
    systematic way.
  • No other organization can maintain a broad base
of connectivity to the fleet or be used to gather
    exit survey information.
  • We are different from the Transition Assistance
Program (TAP). TAP prepares Sailors for a
civilian career, CARIT prepares Sailors for
separation and affiliation in the Navy Reserve.

5
MISSION and GOAL
  • Primary
  • Provide Pre-Separation information to
    transitioning Officer and Enlisted personnel.
  • Conduct training on Navy Reserve benefits and
    opportunities.
  • Provide quality leads to Navy Recruiting.
  • Secondary
  • Assist with Command GMTs, instruct at CCC
schoolhouse and monthly base wide CCC meetings,
and facilitate CARIT return reunion briefs
onboard aircraft carriers and other ships.
  • OUR GOAL
  • Retain 100 of eligible Sailors by showing the
benefits and opportunities of Reserve Component
    career opportunities.
