Engineer Licensure - What is it?
  • Licensure
  • Demonstrates that you've accomplished a
    recognized standard
  • Sets you apart from others in your profession
  • Provides career options and opportunities that
    might not have been available otherwise
  • Serves as a protection of public health, safety,
    and welfare

How Do I Get Licensed?
  • Step 1 GraduationABET-accredited engineering
    program (UF Yes)Step 2 FE ExamThis exam is
    offered in April and October every year. Most
    students take the exam right before graduation or
    soon after while the technical information
    they've studied is still fresh in their minds.
  • Step 3 Work Experience
  • Step 4 PE ExamNormally four years before you
    sit for the Principles and Practice of
    Engineering (PE). This exam is given in a variety
    of engineering disciplines. Most disciplines are
    offered in both April and October, but some are
    offered only in October.

Why Bother With Licensure?
  • Think about it. Your career could last 40 years
    or more. One never knows how a career path will
    change, especially in today's marketplace.

  • Your company is forced to make layoffs, and you
    receive a notice.
  • Your company reorganizes or merges with another
    company.

    engineering services in-house.

    particular area of engineering for several

The FE Exam
  • The FE exam covers subject matter taught in a
    typical EAC/ABET-accredited baccalaureate
    engineering program. It appropriately covers a
    comprehensive range of subjects in engineering.
  • 8-Hour Exam 4 in morning, 4 in afternoon
  • 180 Multiple-choice questions
  • Morning Open Session, all general engineering
  • Afternoon More general engineering or discipline
    specific
  • Bring Non-programmable calculator
  • 70 or better is passing.
