Transfer Window
  • During window, deanery panel will sit to consider
    requests from trainees wishing to transfer into
    Deanery
  • Panel Deanery reps, lay person, trainee rep
    (from outside of Deanery), TPDs as appropriate
  • Candidates ranked, offer of places to list of
    trainees (not all trainees may be placed)

  • Panel form source of advice for appeals
  • Transfer windows November and May
  • Requests to transfer accepted at ay time, but
    unless flagged as urgent will be considered in
    transfer windows only
  • Fast tracking for exceptional circumstances
  • Swaps not allowed

  • Trainees required to sign that information given
    is true. Probity issue is later found to be
    untrue
  • Trial for one year (with prospective data
    collection on requests and movements in/out by
    specialty)

Appeals
  • Appeal against release conducted by Dean
  • Appeal against panel decision to accept
    separate panel (with lay and trainee reps)
  • Trainee can contest decision, apart from the fact
    that there is not a job for them to go to
  • Open competition vacancies could be highlighted
    to trainee

Notes
  • No movement within 1st year
  • Exit from Deanery easy does not guarantee place
    in receiving Deanery
  • Trainees need to consider ease of movement (eg to
    less popular place with vacancies)
  • Need to balance IDTs with opportunities for
    trainees in that region to get posts
  • An empty post does not guarantee agreement to
    transfer
  • Always opportunity for competitive entry to new
    Deanery
