ESRC Je-S Studentship Project

• Intro of student bulk payment system direct to
  ROs 06/07
• Feb 07 Implementation of Je-S quota nomination
  schemes (13, 3)
• Create, complete submit student nominations
  through Je-S
• Approver/submitter pool process responsible for
  creating submitting nomination with student able
  to input personal details

ESRC Je-S studentships cont.

• RO Je-S submission pool structures must reflect
  new studentship management routes
• Je-S investigating possibility of setting up
  pools by scheme type (ie proposals, studentships,
  PR etc)

ESRC Je-S Peer Review Implementation

• Live Je-S system implemented 20 March 07
• Info only no integration with RO admin
• ESRC/Je-S contact only with potential reviewer
  and PI

ESRC Je-S Final Report project

• Current RCUK led initiative to streamline cross
  council FR process
• Timetable for ESRC Je-S FR implementation on hold
• Expectation that manual ESRC process run this
  year

Ten Day Turnaround process

• fEC intro affected Review Panel/Boards remit
• Principle - Can comment on resourcing levels but
  not costing of resource
• TDT Je-S process to deal with estates/indirect
  cost changes
• Formal process not intended to allow RO to recost
  proposal
• Je-S communicate direct with RO admin

TDT cont.

• Process covers both Grant and Fellowship
  proposals
• It is a re-valuation request a change in FTE for
  Research Staff
• The indirects and estates should be adjusted on a
  pro rata basis on the FTE change in research
  staff
• Once set in motion a reason for re-valuation is
  given and a due date (10 working day deadline)
• If response not forthcoming, default rate used
• As process only allows for indirect/estate cost
  changes, revised staff costs (if relevant) should
  be sent in separate email to FAM contact

Je-S Easter shut down

• Due to Polaris House power outage Je-S not
  available for Easter holiday period
• Therefore no access possible, ie ability to work
  on Je-S proposals (including submit) curtailed
• ROs notified by Je-S of downtime (?)
• Relevant ESRC call closing dates extended

Forthcoming Je-S/ESRC projects

• Remaining ESRC Je-S Nomination Studentship
  schemes scheduled for May 07 (ie CASE, Centre
  linked etc)
• Enhanced proposal validation within Je-S (07)
• Status Reporting interface to support non Je-S
  ESRC grant portfolio (summer 07) pre award
  Je-S project (08)
• ESRC Je-S Studentship proposals Jan 08

• Internal cross council harmonisation group RACG
  (Research Admin Convergence Group)
• External RO admin group - ROCG (Research
  Organisation Consultation Group)
• Two groups work closely on issues
• RO reps should be approached to air specific
  concerns
