called The Society of friends.
The quakers believed that people had an
inner light that could guide them to
salvation.
3They didnt have church services or
officials, because they believed that everyone
was equal in gods eyes.
The quakers were pacifists , which means,
they would not play a role in wars of
any kind.
4They were also against slavery.
Though their beliefs were firm, the quakers
were still tolerant of others beliefs.
5Many people found the quakers ideas a
threat to established traditions.
Quakers were fined, jailed, and even
executed for their beliefs.
6In 1680, William Penn sailed to america to
form a place where the quakers ideas
could be put to practice.
In pennsylvania, the quakers could worship
freely.
