This moraine is just after Lilly Road. It also
functions as a sub-continental divide. This
sub-continental divide separates water draining
to the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico.
3This is the swamp on Marcy Road. These swamps
are common of glacial outwash areas.
4The hill you see is actually a drumlin.
Drumlins have one steep side that points in the
direction that the ice came from and a gentle
slope which points in the direction the ice was
moving.
5This is a school in Lannon. Notice the
lannonstone used to build it.
6This is a lannonstone quarry where lannonstone is
mined. The reason the stones are jointed and
bedded together is because of glacial striations.
7This is a truck that is moving some lannonstone
to be used in building houses.
8This is a gravel pit on Hubertus Road. Sand and
gravel are the most important mineral resources
of Wisconsin.
9This is an Old Catholic Church located on
Hubertus Road. The picture on the right is the
inside. Isnt it beautiful!
10This is another sand and gravel pit that is made
up of mainly sorted glacial till. (Till is the
sand and gravel the glacier leaves behind when it
melts.) This pit is located in Kettle Moraine
Country. As you can see mining is very important
to Wisconsin!
11This is Holy Hill. At the very top is a Catholic
Church.
12This is the water tower in Slinger. It is on top
of a delta kame which is 75 feet high. After
climbing the kame, look to the East and see an
abandoned glacial lake.
13If you are of age, you might want to grab a beer
at the Finish Line bar in Slinger after your
Glacier Field Trip!
