CRS and National Space Policies

• US Commercial Remote Sensing Space Policy (April
  2003)
• Rely to the maximum practical extent on U.S.
  commercial remote sensing space capabilities for
  filling imagery and geospatial needs
• US National Space Policy (August 2006)
• US is committed to encouraging and facilitating
  a growing and entrepreneurial US commercial space
  sector. Toward that end, the US Government will
  use US commercial space capabilities to the
  maximum practical extent, consistent with
  national security.

NGA Commercial Imagery Acquisition

• ClearView and NextView are NGAs primary image
  purchase vehicles
• ClearView and NextView provide for purchase of
  U.S. high resolution imagery and limited Value
  Added products/services.
• NGA also purchases SPOT, IRS, Landsat and
  Commercial Airborne imagery through other
  contract vehicles to support user needs
• NGA evaluates community requirements and
  satisfies with commercial source imagery as
  appropriate
