- Its government type is constitutional republic.
- There are nineteen different departments.
- Its capital is Montevideo.
- It became independent form Brazil on August. 25th
1825.
4Geography
- It is located on Southern South America,
bordering the South Atlantic Ocean, between
Argentina and Brazil.
- It has a total area of 176,220 square km. Its
land area is173, 620 square km, and its water
area is 2600 square km. This result in a place
slightly smaller then the state of Washington.
5Continuation
- It is the second smallest country in South
America.
- Most of its low-lying landscape is grassland.
This is ideal for cattle and sheep raising.

The population of Uruguay is 3,386,575, since
July of 2002.

and write. Low levels of literacy, and education
in general, can impede the economic development
of a country in the current rapidly changing,
technology-driven world.

Catholic 66 (less than half of the adult
population attends church regularly), Protestant

Some of the naturally hazards that affect
Uruguay are
- Seasonally high winds. One in particular is the
Pampero, which is a chilly and occasional violent
wind.
- All locations are particularly vulnerable to
rapid changes of whether, due to absence of
mountains.
15Environmental Issues
Some of the environmental issues affecting this
area are
- Water pollution from meat packing and tanner
industries.
- Hazardous waste disposal.

Some of the military branches are
- Police, including Coracero Guard, Grenadier Guard
- Navy, including Navel Air Arm, Coast Guard, and
Marines.
17Legal System
Uruguays legal system is based on the Spanish
civil law system, and its suffrage is 18 years of
age.
18Conclusion
In conclusion I would like to say that I learned
a lot about the country of Uruguay and hopefully
you all did too.
