• The earthquake was centered near the Poas Volcano
  National Park, 22 miles (35 kilometers) northwest
  of the capital, San Jose.
• The depth was 21.7 mile.
• Ground shaking lasted 40 sec.

• The earthquake triggered landslides in rural
  areas and damaged a highway near the Poas
  National Volcano Park.
• Two young girls were killed in a landslide near
  the national park.
• Thousands of people ran from homes and shopping
  centers, frightened by the quake.
