Course Description

• These courses will focus on 4 major areas
• 1) Listening
• 2) Speaking
• 3) Reading
• 4) Writing
• Students will explore and practice these skills
  using a variety of activities with the goal of
• improving oral and written communication in
  contemporary American English.

• To prepare adults who are English language
• learners with the skills necessary to function,
  understand, and participate in their academic
• coursework.
• To use the English language in a variety of
• situations.
• To help ESL learners pursue mainstreamed
• academic coursework.

• An effective tool that enables evaluation of

• Adaptive test
• Diagnoses your strength and weaknesses and

• 45 minute web-based test that evaluates the
  following English
• skills
• Grammar (15 minutes)
• Listening (15 minutes)
• Reading (15 minutes)
• Test-takers receive a numerical score from 1
  1,190, a
• GlobalEnglish level from 0-10, and detailed
  feedback on their
• strengths and weaknesses.

• In this type of question, you will be asked a
• question about a photograph. Look at the
  picture, click play and listen, and select A,B,
  or C to select the best answer.
• Question Response
• In this type of question, you will listen to a
• question and select the most appropriate
• response to that question.
• Short Long Conversation
• In this type of question, you will listen to a
• conversation between two people. You will be
• asked to answer a question about the
• conversation you hear.

• Questions are based on a variety of
• reading materials, including magazine
• articles, email messages, charts and memos.

• General Comprehension
• In this type of question, you would read the
  passage and then

• Vocabulary
• In this type of question, you would look at the
  word that is
• highlighted in yellow in the reading passage.
  Choose the word

• Pronoun Reference
• In this type of question, look at the pronoun
  that is highlighted
• in yellow in the reading passage. Choose the
