What is an Economic Study?

• A stakeholder requested study to evaluate
  specific, potential upgrades or other specific
  investments that could improve import
  capabilities, reduce congestion, or integrate new
  resources and loads.

What an Economic Study is not

• An Economic Study is not a Transmission Study to
  grant Transmission Service.
• An Economic Study does not replace a Large
  Generator Interconnection Study if a proposed
  generator is studied.
• An Economic Study will not replace the current
  System Impact and Facilities Studies required to
  grant Transmission Service.

Submission of Economic Studies

• Economic Study data must be submitted by December
  31 to be considered for the following year.
• Top three proposed Economic Study projects will
  be selected for study by stakeholders.
• Top three Economic Study projects will be studied
  at no cost to the stakeholders.
• All data must be provided within 30 days of
  selection, else the project will be deemed
  withdrawn.

Economic Study Process

• Separate queue from transmission and
  interconnection request.
• All data and reports are public information, no
  masking.
• Each Economic Study is evaluated as a stand-alone
  project.
• All reports will be posted on the OASIS and can
  have suggested edits by any stakeholder in the
  group.

Economic Study Process

• Results will be discussed at Transmission
  Providers Summit
• Capital Projects, which may or may not include
  any of the upgrades identified in the Economic
  Study, for the next five years will be posted on
  the OASIS.
• The Capital Projects status will be updated on
  the OASIS as needed.

CEII Data Requirements

• Each person requesting Transmission Planning
  data, must complete and execute a CEII Data
  Request form and Non-Disclosure Agreement.
