- Honeoye Falls Lima School District
- June 11, 2008
2Definition of Terms
- Contest types are defined by NYSPHAA as follows
- League a group of schools, preferably of
similar size and location, who join together for
the purpose of administering athletic competition
and other educational opportunities. - Non-League Each teams season is a combination
of league and non-league games. A maximum number
of total contests that each team may compete in
per season is established. This number varies by
sport. The non-league portion of the schedule
represents the number of contests scheduled
against teams that are not members of the same
league. - Sectional Classification games or meets
conducted at the conclusion of the regular season
schedule for the purpose of determining sectional
champions.
3Schedules
- A team is allowed to play a maximum number of
games per regular season (not including sectional
games) - League contests non-league contests regular
season schedule - We are reviewing changing the league portion of
our schedule. Our non-leagues and sectional
opponents will remain the same.
4Current Affiliation
- HF-L is currently a member of the Livingston
County League, and an Associate Member of the
Monroe County League. Due to a lack of
sponsorship in the Livingston County League, the
following teams compete in the Monroe County
League - Boys Lacrosse
- Girls Lacrosse
- Girls Tennis
- Alpine Skiing
- Nordic Skiing
- All of our Modified A teams
5Quick Facts about the Monroe County League

divisions - the same as the Livingston County
League. - HF-L would be placed in Division 3 , the smallest
of the divisions.
6What schools would we compete against in the
Monroe County league?
- Batavia
- Brighton
- Eastridge
- Pittsford Sutherland
- Pittsford Mendon
- Victor
- Greece Odyssey
- Cross-Country events are held with all Monroe
County Teams, much like LCAA, but times are

9School Size
10Academic Comparisons
11Travel Comparisons
12What benefits would our student athletes see by
changing leagues?
- Compete against schools closer in size, location
and sectional classification - Changing leagues would reduce travel costs, and
more importantly, the time associated with
transporting student athletes to away games,
leaving our students with more time to spend on
academics and other interests they wish to pursue.
13What benefits would our student athletes lose by
changing leagues?
- Boys and Girls Soccer teams would play 16 games
per season, two games less than the current
season - Modified sports seasons would be reduced from 4
to 3 - Male students who participate in both wrestling
and basketball at the modified level would have
to choose one or the other, because both are
offered in the same season (currently there are
no students affected by this) - Cheerleading teams would not travel to away games
