Title: Student Achievement
1Student Achievement
- Board of Education
- August 27, 2007
2State Subgroups
- There must be 45 students in a subgroup to be
counted - The subgroups that are significant in 202 are
IEP, Hispanic, Black, Low Income - For example an IEP subgroup at the elementary
level would contain all student with IEPs in 3rd,
4th and 5th grade - District 202 had IEP, Hispanic and Black
subgroups not meet AYP
3IEP Subgroups
- The majority of subgroups that did not meet were
IEP - What does the data tell us about the subgroups
achievement? - Subgroups are generally held to the same standard
4Subgroup Scoring
- Subgroups can meet AYP by meeting safe harbor
(this is a predetermined reduction in the percent
of students that did not meet) - Adjustment (14 points are added to the IEP
subgroup) - Each year the expectation increases
- The majority of elementary schools made AYP
- The middle schools made significant gains
5What Does the Data Tell US
6MS Math Trend Data for IEP Students 2003-2007
7District Average Math ISAT for IEP Subgroup 2007

17Elementary Math Growth
18Elementary Math Support
- Provide Fast Math intervention at 4th and 5th
grade to address deficits in calculation - Changed the pacing in the instructional classes
19High School Math Gap

grade - Math will be taught during resource
- A half period study hall will be available
opposite lunch for help with homework grade - Precision teaching will be used to achieve
maximum growth.
22MS Reading Trend Data for IEP Students
23District Average Reading ISAT for IEP Subgroup
24MS Reading Gap Analysis
25MS Reading Growth
26MS Reading Support
- Identified students who need support through data
analysis and not teacher referral - Provided multi-tiered reading support
- Reading support was part of the schedule
- Will be providing additional support for our
lowest readers through Corrective Reading
27Elementary Reading Trend Data for IEP Students
28Elementary Reading Gap Analysis
29Elementary Average ISAT Reading
30Elementary Reading Support
- Have provided support to students based on
teacher referrals are moving to use of data - The lowest scores are in 3rd grade so the
district will be working with a consultant to
develop a system for early identification and
support - Developing building schedules that will support
daily interventions
31High School Reading Gap
32High School Reading Trend Data
33High School Reading Support
- Resource is changing to a full period with credit
- Instruction in reading will occur during resource
not homework completion - Several reading courses are being offered at the
freshman level resource not homework completion - Precision teaching will be used to achieve
maximum growth
34Tienet Progress Monitoring
35Quarterly Meetings
- Each quarter the special education administrator
meets with each teacher to review student
achievement - For any student not making adequate growth a plan
is developed - Change the amount of service
- Change the type of service
- Change the location or group size
